Excellent local restaurant offering superb value for money. Quality food with an emphasis on locally sourced produce (the succulent rack of lamb comes highly recommended), a wide range of options and friendly, welcoming staff make it well worth searching out (it’s hidden away from the main high street). They make a point of catering for people with gluten and dairy allergies.

Situated next door to the Playhouse Theatre (handy for pre- or post-play dining), Blue Ocean offers excellent, affordable Thai cuisine – like the exotically named moo yang (Thai pork in a lime sauce). Try a bottle of Thai wine if you’re brave enough, or stick to the plentiful selection of imported beers and lagers to wash down your green, red or even yellow curries. Set menu options give Thai novices a great introduction.

Friendly, lively cafe-bar just off the Weston seafront. Superb fresh food served daily, with a full lunch menu and meals and budgets to suit all tastes. At night it becomes less of a cafe and more of a cocktail bar, with good music and extra seating upstairs. The perfect place to start the evening off. Open daily 10am-11pm. Classic rural pub serving hearty homecooked fare - steaks, fish dishes, salads, veggie cuisine - and a wide range of wines and real ales, including Greene King IPA and Old Speckled Hen. Nice, rustic dining area and further eating outside, with darts, pool and skittle alley in separate games bar and live sports events shown. Sport is big at the Coach House: the pub sponsors Locking Park FC and supports competitive teams for darts, skittles, cricket and pool. Families welcome. Saturday entertainment fortnightly.

Fine dining, family run restaurant with rooms incorporating a florist shop (yes, really), in stylish, oak-panelled surroundings. The kitchen is led by head chef Amy Hunt, whose CV includes apprenticeship stints under Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons and John Campbell at the Vineyard, resulting in modern British, locally sourced menus that never fail to impress. The wine list, meanwhile, is a characterful journey of discovery, and includes exceptionally well-priced classic champagnes.

What would Weston be without fish’n’chips? At Winstons, they’re simply delicious, whether you eat in, sit outside in their large alfresco area or take them away with you to sit on the seafront. Prices are reasonable, especially when you consider the quality of food you get, and they often have offers on for pensioners - so why not take Gran with you? The fish tanks around the restaurant are a nice touch. Can get awfully crowded during the summer months, but out of season (when the staff are less hassled), it’s a must.

Refurbished, reinvented and re-invigorated by the Butcombe Brewery after the acquisition in 2006, the Woolpack is a well-kept 17th century coaching inn with bags of character and well-priced good food served both lunchtimes and evenings. Recently shortlisted for Managed Pub of the Year, it has great Butcombe ales on tap, a small front patio for alfresco wining and dining, and a stand-alone carvery section which serves stonking Sunday roasts.
